Letter of Greeting
Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Faculty, Staff and Board of Trustees of the Sarasota Waldorf
School, I extend a warm welcome to you as you visit our newly redesigned website.
The Sarasota Waldorf School began as a grassroots initiative more than six
years ago. With the help of ingenious parents and experienced teachers, both
active and retired, the school has grown to serve more than 100 families annually
through an array of programs including adult education, parent-child playgroups,
nursery, kindergarten and an expanding grade school program.
The
Waldorf approach is based on a profound understanding of human development
characterized by an age appropriate introduction of materials and subjects,
and an integration of the fine and practical arts in all aspects of the curriculum.
The Sarasota Waldorf School endeavors to prepare students to enter adulthood
with self-discipline and independence, mastery of analytical and critical
faculties, and reverence and wonder for the beauty and mysteries of the world.
The School brings a unique and time-tested method of education to the community,
and stands as a vital contrasts to the trends of high stakes testing and acceleration
in current private and public school settings. To paraphrase a Nobel Prize
winning scientist, Waldorf preserves the true intelligence of childhood and
in doing so has a hand in creating intelligent, warm, and capable adults.
With your generous support, the Sarasota Waldorf School will grow, expand
and make Waldorf education available to more students in Sarasota.
Enjoy your visit to our site and thank you for your support.
Warmly,
Kim Summers,
President, Board of Trustees
Sarasota Waldorf, Inc.
