History of Our School
SARASOTA WALDORF SCHOOL –
OUR HISTORY HAS JUST BEGUN
The Sarasota Waldorf School was founded in 2000 by a small group of dedicated parents and experienced Waldorf teachers. What began as a playgroup swiftly expanded into much needed nursery and kindergarten programs. Our grade school soon followed, as did more families and more exceptional teachers.
Today, SWS is part of a worldwide association of independent Waldorf schools and offers wide-ranging early childhood programs and a comprehensive grades curriculum, currently to 4th grade. We plan to add a grade each year through 8th. We also offer parent-child circles, Tea ‘n Puppets© programs, adult education classes, and community festivals. We have attracted a world-class faculty and a community of extraordinary families. Many of the children who joined our first playgroup are now thriving grade students, and their siblings are enjoying the early childhood programs.
Our story is unfolding daily. Every new family and each new teacher makes our history richer and our roots stronger. We are looking forward to serving the greater Sarasota Community for many years to come and we are proud to offer a classic academic and fine arts education to every child that wants it.
